Yes, I’m still unemployed.  Yes, it really sucks.

I’ve had plenty of interviews, but no bites yet, so I’ve decided to take a few measures to help ease things.

1.  I’m getting my PHP 5 certification (ZCE).  My course starts September 9th.

2.  I’m freelancing.  At least, I’ve signed up over at freelanceswitch.com in hopes to find something.

3.  I hate to admit it…but I’m applying for a store manager posistion at Aldie.  They pay a training salary of 52k a year, have good benefits, and all that jazz.  Demoralizing, yes, but I need to take care of my family.

Here’s to hoping something comes along soon…real soon.

Just throwing this out there: I got a .NET development certification from a local college here (6 courses, took a year to complete) and pretty much every recruiter I asked told me that unless a cert is one that the company is specifically looking for, they ignore them. And the ones they look for are usually MCSE or the Cisco ones or project management ones. Thankfully tuition reimbursement covered my cert…..
