This past week I’ve been showing some seveare symptoms of carpal tunnel. The pain and numbness was constant at first, but moving back to an ergo keyboard has helped a bit. The pain comes and goes, and it’s bad at times. I’m trying to get in to see a doctor ASAP, and in the meantime am on the lookout for some good wrist braces. Hopefully I’m at a stage where preventative care can help out a bit.

I had the same set of problems back in high school. Never switched to an ergonomic keyboard, but made a conscious decision to raise my wrists off of the edge of the desk. Used some wrist wraps to guide my hands for a little pain. The pain lessened and eventually faded away.
One of my coworkers went in for the surgery where they cut away some of the inflamed ligaments. After recovery, no pain. But she still had to be careful about her hand positions.
Preventative care is where it’s at.
