Our fireplace doors broke a little after Winter ended, and I’m only now starting to look into a new set.
Trouble is, I want to use the fireplace to heat our home, but now I’m hearing that fireplaces can actually make a house COLDER.
I’ve wanted to get a wood stove insert for a while now, but they’re pretty pricey. Apparently it’s a great choice to make because they can warm a house very well.
So now I’m stuck either buying fireplace doors and just not making many fires this year, or sucking it up and spening a whole lot of money on an insert that will heat our home well. The savings in oil in the long run would be better with an insert, but in the short run it just doesn’t make sense.
