Thankful

A lot has been going on in my family’s lives lately, but things are most definitely on the up-and-up. I’m so thankful to have an awesome wife and 3 amazing children. They’re my core, and my main drive to keep going and doing what I do. I can’t imagine the person I’d be without them, and I’m thankful that I’m the person I’ve become because of them.

Reclaimed Wood Gaming Table Idea

While I continue to work on my standing desk office, I’ve decided to start another project. Every month I get together with a bunch of friends to play tabletop games. We call ourselves Board Games and Brandy, due to the fact that we play board games and…you guessed it…drink brandy.

The only problem with our current game nights is that we don’t have a very good table to play our games on. An idea setup would be a table that was large enough to hold a fairly big game, had under-the-table storage for books, dice, snacks, etc…, was easily folded up and stored away, and that had a felted top with banked sides to safely and easily roll dice.

After seeing a great article on Lifehacker about a great way to reclaim wood from old shipping pallets, I decided to try my hand at making a gaming table using that idea.

I’ll be posting my progress as I start to work on this. Right now I’ve already gotten a few good pallets to take apart, but I’m going to need a bunch more. Thankfully the local hardware store has let me know what any pallets left out by their dumpster are up for the taking.
